A prayer card with a prayer for the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Circle “encourage the whole faith community to embrace this historic moment and prepare to stand in prayerful solidarity with all of those who will be meeting with the Holy Father so that this will be a true encounter on our journey toward reconciliation.” The organization shares two initiatives enclosed: (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador) The Circle suggests each diocese partner with the League, Knights of Columbus and other groups to ensure commitment to continuous prayer across each region’s prayer time. We will pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe for her to intercede with her Son to shower abundant graces among and between us, for the conversion and healing of hearts, as we continue our journey of truth and reconciliation. In solidarity with Indigenous Fire Keepers keeping the Sacred Fire in each region and across the land, all are invited to light a fire or candle and pray as the encounter begins (March 28 th). In Indigenous spirituality, the Sacred Fire starts a ceremony or sacred event-it is a sacred practice meant to make individuals feel open, grounded and connected with people on earth and those who have moved on. The light signifies prayer, which is offered in faith, entering the light of God. Light has always had a special significance in the church because it represents Christ. Enclosed is a prayer card for members’ use as Canadians journey forward on the path of reconciliation.
The Circle asks for the League’s cooperation to assist engage the Catholic faithful in Canada in the Indigenous delegation journeying to Rome from March 28 th until April 1 st.Įncourage your diocesan counterparts to ask members to join in solidarity (either individually or as councils) with the delegation by praying and lighting a candle as part of a Sacred Fire to wave across the country on the first day of the visit (March 28 th).
